K-12 Support. I tutor Executive Function and ADHD time management organizational skills to stay ahead of coursework and always be prepared for school and exams. Specific topic tutoring in English, Humanities, and Composition.
I successfully support neurodiverse and neurotypical students from Early Learning through to successful University applications, including one student who earned a 4-year full scholarship to one of the most prestigious schools in Canada. I tutor executive function skills, time-management and organizational skills to help students stay ahead of coursework and always be prepared for school and exams. I also do specific topic tutoring in English, Humanities, and Composition.I also specialize in Early Childhood Education through games and skills development for entrance interviews. My approach to Early Childhood education is game-based. Pattern skills are developed in maths and reading through music, story creation, dance, art and manipulatives. It is important to develop a strong number sense and improve fine and gross motor skills. We will have science experiments and can go on excursions. Social-behavioural expectations will be clearly defined, and I will follow the child's interests to inform the lens through which these skills are taught.
A native of Canada and the USA, I have worked at schools in Thailand, Canada, Hong Kong in classes from early years playgroups to Grade 10. I have completed studies in early childhood development through adolescence and supporting neurodiverse youth development. Outside of my time in education, I have a B.A., A.A.S., and MLA degrees. I’ve worked in finance, textiles, and landscape architecture.
I provide consistent positive support while injecting humour to help lighten academic stress. This calms their parasympathetic nervous system, which helps students clear their minds and confidently get to work. Twice-exceptional, ADHD, ASD, and/or emotional dysregulation are my specialties. Improved self-esteem is imperative to succeed! Students must have a team that unrelentingly believes in their ability.
We will build the following skills together:
Create routines for time management.
Prioritize assignments.
Gauge their own physiological needs to learn effectively.
Build a schedule for written assignments, exams and projects.
Develop consistent online communication skills.
Organize their online school files.
These skills take time for every student to develop, but are more difficult for the neurodiverse student. We can meet in person and online until your student can reliably manage their workload.
