Hello, my name is Tom, and I am a first-year undergraduate student at the City University of Hong Kong. I spent nine years of my youth in Syracuse, New York, and later moved back to my home country of Taiwan for the remaining five years of my high school career at Hsinchu International School. My primary language is English, while my second language is Mandarin. I am currently majoring in Material Science and Engineering, which means I am also proficient in physics and chemistry. I have three years of teaching experience teaching students from ages 10 - 17 in Physics, Chemistry, and English. I can teach classes either online or offline.

As a high school student, I also had tutors to help me with specific school subjects that I was struggling with. Consequently, this experience allowed me to understand the needs and thinking processes of students in 1-on-1 tutoring sessions. Students may be too shy to ask for a certain topic to be repeated. There may also be times when students are unsure whether they truly understand the concept at hand.

To solve these issues, I will:
1. Make handouts to assist in explaining concepts in the course.
2. Peak students' interest in the subject.
3. Aid students in achieving the confidence they need to ace exams.
4. Explain complex ideas as well as I can.
