A Hong Kong reporter with 4+ years of experience in a fast-moving journalism field and part-time tutoring experience in different educational centers. Native in Cantonese, Mandarin and fluent in English.

With a formal background in journalism with my proven success in various media publications, as well as years’ part-time tutoring experience, I am looking to a career transition into education.

In my previous jobs, I was responsible for covering the news about public affairs through talking with officials, lawmakers and different professionals. I have improved my interpersonal skills during the years of experience, which would help me for a better communication with the students and their parents.

Meanwhile, I spent more than three years being a part-time tutor across three local educational centers, for teaching English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Communication studies. During the time, I learned a lot about handling different cultures with various students from overseas and planning the course in a creative way.

I believe that a good teacher should focus on engaging students with creative lessons and improving their learning by showing empathy and patience. I would spare my leisure time attending various interest classes as I believe one of the key skills needed to be a good teacher is a lifelong learner.

Last but not least, having spent four years in Hong Kong, I am already knowledgeable about the local culture and educational system. And the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme (PGDE) is one of my goals for my career transition.

I am a conscientious person who pay attention to detail. I’m flexible, quick to pick up new skills and eager to learn from others. I also have lots of ideas and enthusiasm.
