Native English Teacher in North DistrictI have a Master of Arts in Visual Anthropology and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. I am also a TEFL 120-hour premier qualified teacher. I was born and raised in Canada and subsequently lived for 15 years in Britain, therefore I can help you with British English as well as American English.
I teach children as well as adults, working from phonics all the way to business English. This vast range gives me a unique insight into the building blocks of learning English that can help you along your journey. I believe that learning English should be engaging, fun and personalised to individual needs and goals. My lessons incorporate all areas of English, from speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, as well as pronunciation and accent reduction.
I also speak Intermediate Cantonese so I understand some of the differences between English and Cantonese which can help in our lessons. Let's discover your goals for speaking English and work together to make them a reality.
My teaching method is adaptive to the nature of the learner but each lesson should encourage the student to use the target language as much as possible in writing, speaking and listening exercises. This should include a controlled activity, and practice to ensure the learner understands the concept followed by their own free production to solidify their learning. Each lesson should be fun and engaging.
I also can teach filmmaking and photography as I have been working as a filmmaker and photographer for the past 10 years.
