I am Melanie, a native English speaker and CertTESOL-certified tutor who offers a unique, interdisciplinary approach to learning. My speciality is helping students master the English language by integrating it with real-world academic and creative subjects, moving beyond traditional lessons to create confident, articulate learners. My ultimate goal is to ensure students excel in their exams and can apply their skills across all academic and creative disciplines.

My core methodology involves weaving English together with subjects like Geography, History, Sciences, and Visual Storytelling through Photography. This means students don't just learn grammar in isolation; they develop the critical skill of applying fluent English to analyze historical events and photographs, write compelling scientific and analytical reports, and describe complex geographical and visual concepts. This approach is specifically designed for top performance in international curricula such as IGCSE, IB, and HKDSE. I believe learning should be fun and inspiring, and being fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, I am able to create a warm, supportive, and engaging environment for a diverse range of students.

My background includes being CertTESOL certified (September 2024), an international school education, and a BA in History/Sociology from a Canadian university. My teaching experience began in secondary school, where I assisted with Drama, Physical Education, Photography, and YMCA Camping, and has grown to include professional teaching roles in both Hong Kong and Canada. For your peace of mind, I have confirmed my Hong Kong and Canada SCRC checks, and I am fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

My core teaching capabilities include creating engaging, interdisciplinary lesson plans that bring English to life through the humanities, sciences, and the arts. I specialize in developing students' reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills for academic success, and I have particular expertise in using photography as both a technical skill and a tool for developing analytical and descriptive language. I have a proven ability to adapt lessons to meet individual student needs, boost confidence, and build essential learning skills. With experience teaching both in-person and online to students of all ages from 3 to 18 and adults, I am skilled at guiding and motivating students in test preparation for major international and local curricula.

Tutoring Services & Rates:
• 1-hour Session: HKD $300 : Ideal for focused skill-building (e.g., essay structure, grammar review).
• 1.5-hour Session: HKD $450 (Most Popular) : Perfect for immersive, integrated lessons (e.g., writing a report or analyzing a historical text).
• 2-hour Session: HKD $600 : Comprehensive sessions for exam prep or tackling complex projects.

I am available for sessions from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekends, teaching primary students, teenagers, and adults online or in-person.
