Hello, I am Kaden. I am a full-time music freelancer. I have been teaching bassoon for over 9 years both privately and in local primary and secondary schools. Students ranges from age of 5 to adulthood. I am patient and works well with young children. I tailer-made and adjust the materials, method and learning pace according to each student’s need.

Besides bassoon, I also offer music theory class. Most commonly grade-5 theory class. I provide revision notes and exercises for students. The learning pace of grade 5 theory usually range from 3 months to 6 months. So far, all students pass the grade 5 at their first try.

Detailed Bio:
Kaden Yim obtained Master of Music degree with distinction from Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, major in bassoon performance. He studied with Mr Kam Shui, former principal bassoon of Hong Kong Philharmonic orchestra, and Mr. Timothy Chan, principal bassoon of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. His study was supported by scholarships including SAR Philharmonic Scholarships, Parsons Music Foundation Scholarships and more.

Yim has been teaching bassoon over 9 years. He teaches bassoon in various local schools including Heep Yunn Primary School, Yaumati Catholic Primary School and International Christian Quality Music Secondary and Primary School. He also worked as part-time teacher of the Junior Wind Band of Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.

Yim actively performs as well. He has worked with Young Pro Platform, Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, Ponte Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Orchestra, Hong Kong Strings, Gobal Orchestra Hong Kong and more. He travelled and participated in festivals including Rome Chamber Music Festival, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, International Double Reed Society Conferences, Asian Double Reed Association Conference, World Music Competition, Singapore Double Reed Weekend and more. He is also a committee member of the Bassoonion, a local music group composed of bassoonists. As a baroque bassoon player, he performed Bach Mass in B minor alongside with Cammer Musicus in 2019, and Bach St. John Passion with St. John Cathedral in 2024. He also wrote music arrangement for bassoon ensemble.
