Substantial experience in English tutoring and a passion for education and teaching.

Hello, my name is Crystal Ko and I am an IB student as well as a university student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical School located in the US. I was born in Hong Kong and I previously studied in Vancouver, Canada. I am a native English speaker and am proficient in Cantonese and Mandarin to an extent.

I am a high IB scorer with substantial experience in teaching English to students of various age groups and proficiency levels and a solid understanding of different teaching techniques to help students understand and learn. My previous class assignments and work have been used as examples for younger students, so I am skilled in compiling teaching notes and providing constructive feedback on students' homework to facilitate their progress.

With my extensive experience, passion for education, and strong communication skills, I believe I am an excellent fit for this role. I regularly interact with younger students, tutoring in Chinese, English and Social Sciences. I have volunteered at various organisations, supporting students with their English class and homework, providing insight on improvement and memorization techniques.

I have also interned at an education technology company named MeeOpp with a past experience of attending an Oxford Summer Course in Law and Science. Additionally, I have several certificates of academic excellence, Cambridge English Language Assessments as well as a Distinction in Spoken English from Trinity College London from when I was younger. With my recent involvement in debate and public speaking, I have won multiple awards at Georgetown and Stanford Debate competitions and now have a high interest in teaching and supporting students in various areas.

As a teacher/tutor, my teaching approach is student-centered. I believe in tailoring my lessons to the student's individual needs, learning style, and goals. By understanding the strengths and areas for improvement, I can create a customized learning plan that maximizes potential and learning. Which is why, I am earning a TEFL certificate currently as wish to support as many as I can while doing so.

I would say personality plays a significant role in fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. So I am patient, approachable, and enthusiastic about helping the student succeed. I believe in creating a safe space where individuals can feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring new ideas in a fun and creative way. I will also provide constructive feedback and encouragement, motivating students to achieve their academic goals.
