Looking to learn piano, guitar, drums or electronic music? My aim is to inspire you to enjoy learning and practising your instrument, and to appreciate the satisfaction that comes from persevering to play challenging pieces and hone skills, to enjoy the journey by keeping the destination in mindI'm a 49-year-old musician and civil engineer. I started playing piano at age 9 and guitar at age 15. I produce electronic music with synthesizers, drum machines and self-coded apps and have also been playing drums for several years. I went down the unconventional route in learning piano, preferring to learn jazz and blues instead of following the ABRSM curriculum.
When learning to play a musical instrument I believe it is very important for the student to want learn it and to enjoy playing it whilst learning and practising, not only when doing recitals or playing in a band.
The process of learning musical styles and pieces can be challenging and frustrating, but it should also be fun and rewarding. In my lessons, I aim to apply enough pressure and repetition for the student to develop an appreciation for honing skills before levelling up in speed or complexity, whilst cycling through different techniques to keep things exciting. Students are welcome to let me know of specific tunes or styles they wish to learn
